Fitness Fanatics in Year 3/4!

We are Year 3/4 from Penllergaer Primary School and we will be keeping you up to date with our adventures from our ‘Get App ‘n’ Go’ topic! Every week we have a wonderful opportunity to experience a range of fitness classes. We will be reviewing these classes and sharing our findings with you, so watch this space!
This week we challenged ourselves to do Pilates with Mrs Bennett. When we found out that we would be doing Pilates we were extremely excited and slightly nervous because it was a new experience for us. Mrs Bennett was great and gave us loads of information about where Pilates came from before she taught us new moves. We learnt that a Gentleman named Joseph Pilates came up with the idea for Pilates after studying the strength his wife needed to do Ballet. We thoroughly enjoyed Pilates today because we learnt a great range of moves.
We did things such as;
– Angry cat
– Happy cat
– Bicycles
– Sit ups
All of these exercises meant that we had to use our stomach muscles to maintain a strong movement. Our favourite move was the bicycles because we could really feel all of our muscles working in our legs. It is important to remember to blow up the balloon when doing all Pilates moves. This made it really fun.
Pilates could have been made better today if we had more room to spread out and if Mrs Bennett could have stayed for a longer lesson.
We would definitely recommend this exercise to all of our friends because it was soo much fun and we could feel our muscles working after just one class!
Pilates is great. Go and have a go, but remember to blow up your balloon! 🙂
